Serves: 2 - 4
Ingredients:
  • 500gr squid, wash, then cut like ring
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 full tbsp tapioca flour / starch or can be replaced with corn flour
  • ½ cup plain flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1½ tsp fresh cracked black pepper
  • Cooking oil to fry
Cooking Instructions:
  1. Mix the flour with salt and pepper, mix well.
  2. Add the squid into the beaten egg. Make sure all the squid is well covered in egg.
  3. And then mix the squid into the flour, stir slowly until the squid is well coated with flour. (This process can be done twice depend on your taste).
  4. Heat the oil in a frying pan, fry the squid until the flour is cooked and slightly changes colour to a golden brown. This process doesn't take a long at all. Other wise you will over cook your beautiful squid. Repeat until you have cooked all squid.
  5. Arrange the fried squid on a plate or bowl.
  6. Serve hot - best to enjoy with tartar sauce (available in supermarkets).
Notes
Serve while still hot-hot or at least warm. Because when it's cold, fried calamari texture is not as crispy as when still warm.
