I have to admit that I love entertaining especially when cooking involve. Also it is such a joy to be able to introduce Indonesian cuisine to other people from different country.  Where I grew up, in a little town in Indonesia, many things can be a party, 7th month pregnancy, birth, 7 days old baby, wedding, 7 months old baby, and lots of other things. How it work is that neighbours around will help out whoever having a party day and night thats no doubt.  Mind you that majority people in my hometown are farmers and local business owner (dairy farm, chicken farm, own a shop attached to their house), and probably about 20% are working for government body and other offices. So most of people got flexible time. Remember when I was little I always got excited every time mum’s helping out neighbours at their party. Food just everywhere. I think thats why I love entertaining so much especially when food and cooking involve, it’s a great way to socialise.

To make the menu above, here’s the shopping list,
(please note that the shopping list below does not including the entrée and desert):
1 kg uncooked prawn, skin off
1,5 kg chicken thigh fillet, skin off
1,5 kg lean beef
2x 450 fresh hokkien thin noodle
600ml coconut milk
4 eggs
16 garlic clove, minced
7 big french onion/ 25 shallot
13 big red chilli, slice thinly
6 chilli padi, slice thinly
1 big tomato
5 cm galangal
1/2 tsp brown sugar
1 big kafir lime leaf
a bunch of spring onion
3 carrot
1 capsicum
3 stalk of celery
1 tsp cracked black pepper
1/2 cup sweet soy sauce
Cooking oil/olive oil
2 tsp brown sugar
coriander leaf
2x bunch of sweet basil
2 cups of unsalted cashew nut
50 ml light soy sauce
fish sauce
sesame oil
1 lemon
1,5 tbs coriander powder
1 flat tsp turmeric powder
2 stalk lemon grass
3 bay leaf
2 turmeric leafs (optional)
1 tsp sugar
Salt
Bok Choy, broccoli and cauliflower for steam vegies
Rice enough for 10 people (better to use rice cooker)
