Dinner at Beer and Skewer Northbridge
Saturday Night Out Dinner at Beer and Skewer Northbridge.
It’s time again to explore new food, the dragon in my stomach is calling! This time we went to a restaurant we never been to before called Beer and Skewer. The restaurant seems new. We took mum and dad with us as we haven’t caught up with them for a while. Untuk versi Bahasa kunjungi Makan Malam di Beer and Skewer.
We surprised that the restaurant was empty for Saturday night, hmmm…..that doesn’t seems like a good sign! We sat and started looking at the menu. We ordered meals that sounded familiar to us like satay, ribs, etc. While we were waiting for the food to come, there is one guy with drill on his hand and start to make a noise drilling into the walls. I think to put the TV up on the wall or something. No wonder why they are empty, seems like to don’t really care about the customer.
The first thing I noticed from this dish is the taste of cumin (well of course, that’s why they called this dish cumin lamb skewer 🙂 ). The cumin taste was little bit overpowering. Very different.
I will say that Indonesian chicken satay is much better by miles. This one is so dry and bland.
Srir-fried Choi with Dried Mushroom.
Crunchy and tasty ! At last…..something that agree with my taste buds. The shitake mushroom is definitely create a nice kick to it.
What can I say? I couldn’t taste anything but salt. And you can see that they use tons of oil….I definitely dislike this dish. By the time we left this Spicy and Sour soup was barely touched.
I will say that this Salt and Pepper Fish Fillet is the most okay dish for the night. The fish is tender and tasty.
Pork Ribs (I think they call it Garlic Ribs or something).
I didn’t realise it was deep fried. Again, I can only taste the salt. Nothing else…very disappointing!
Another disappointment 🙁 I couldn’t taste anything. The wonton skin was so thick and the inside part was dry.
The taste is similar to cumin lamb skewer only the sauce is different. This one using hoisin sauce.
Overall, the food at Beer and Skewer seems all about the cumin. I have never experienced dining at a restaurant with so much cumin in most of the dishes. And by the time we left the restaurant it had only 4 tables occupied with others still empty.
This type of Chinese cuisine is definitely not for me, I enjoyed some of the food but a lots that I don’t. But I can say that the place was clean, nice presentation, friendly staff and the service is pretty quick and definitely no queue 🙂
